A Solution To Australia’s Future Overpopulation Crisis: New Cities

A lot of talk here in Australia in the media has been centred around the fact that by 2050 we’re going to be a very overpopulated country. All major cities will be extremely full, I don’t doubt this, it’s inevitable.

Everyone is crying that we need to limit immigration levels, but that won’t solve the problem long term. I have an idea that I have never heard proposed before, building entirely new cities.

It’s not like Australia doesn’t have the space, the amount of empty desert we have could easily be turned into new cities. Go one step further and build an underground monorail system that would join all adjacent cities similar to an airport, there would only be one hub for each major city joining to the outback city.

Considering Las Vegas in the United States is built in the desert and is one of the most iconic and visited places by tourists worldwide, what’s to say Australia couldn’t build something similar in our spare desert space? Makes you wonder.
