I was recently tasked with needing to create a custom subscription form for a website using Campaign Monitor. When it came time to track down the list ID, I was at a loss. The client is listed under “Clients sending themselves” in the main account and I also couldn’t easily find the API key (which is different from the main account).
Don’t be confused when clicking on a list or hovering, the ID in the URL isn’t the same as the List ID that you need to access the list via the API.
No doubt running a cryptocoin exchange is hard work. You’re constantly fighting an uphill battle to stop attackers trying to get in and take your users coins. Understandably, it is in the best interests of the person(s) running the exchange to ensure due-care has been taken as collecting fees from a long-running site opposed to a hit-and-run led website is more profitable.
Recently, Coinex.pw an exchange with considerable volume for not only Bitcoin, but also Dogecoin was majorly hacked for a second time. All coins on the platform were stolen according to the statement made by lead developer Erundook over at Bitcointalk and will be covered at the expense of Erundook.
I am absolutely in love with FetchTV. It is quite a decent and affordable cable TV competitor, not only that, but it allows you to stream Youtube videos, movies and TV shows as well as the ability to use it as a local media streaming hub.
Whilst trying to get it to work with Windows Media Player after working out why the streaming service wouldn’t start, I realised FetchTV has problems with Windows Media Player shared content (sometimes it doesn’t see it). I searched for an alternative and found Plex.
The End
As much as everyone hoped that Coinex would make a comeback the exchange is now gone for good. Erundook aka Vitaly and CaptainFuture have vanished from the face of the Earth.
Rumour has it all valuable coins were dumped on Cryptsy shortly after the site went offline.
Let the below serve as a reminder, a chunk in time where people once again lost crypto because of an insecure site and immature owners. Trust no one in the crypto game.
Construct 2 is a HTML5 game maker application in similar vain of Game Maker, Multimedia Fusion, Stencyl and whatnot built by a company called Scirra. Along the way I’ve hit a few bumps and limitations using the program but nothing that couldn’t be overcome asking for help on the forums and trial & error.
I will continue to periodically update this blog post with new things I learn along the way, so bookmark it or something.
Recently on a client site I had to deploy it onto Amazon Web Services or as the hipster kids call it, AWS and I decided to use the wonderfully functional Bitnami WordPress AMI which comes with a pre-installed version of WordPress, Apache, Varnish and a few other nice little additions.
While it is mostly install and use, there are a few caveats you can easily overcome:

If you are developing a site and have WordPress in a sub-folder managed as as Git submodule or just in a separate folder with a wp-content folder in the root directory one up from your WordPress install you might have encountered an issue where your themes and plugins aren’t found.
You might get a message that looks like this, “twentyfourteen – The theme directory does not exist.” this is because there is a problem with how your paths have been defined in wp-config.php
For those who’ve been in the game long enough to remember, the original dot-com bubble burst only happened around 2000 and proceeded into 2001 you might notice some parallels to the lead-up to the great bubble burst; crazy valuations, way overpriced purchases, IPO’s and investment capital thrown around like confetti and what has been happening since late 2012.
Facebook recently announced it had purchased cross-platform messaging app WhatsApp for $16 billion dollars. That’s right, sixteen billion dollars. At 400,000 (four hundred million) users, Facebook has paid roughly $40 per user which is an extremely steep price to pay for a service that charges users after a long period of time $1 per year (and apparently there are ways to get around that).
In the words of 50 Cent, “Get rich, or die tryin’” — I’ve decided to open source most of my startup ideas. I’ll still keep a few to myself, but I think I’ve reached a point in my life where I can now accept I’ll never be able to make all of my ideas a reality and maybe someone else can (if they’re good enough).
These are generally just brief and sometimes random thoughts that haven’t been fleshed out or researched, but maybe you’ll find a gem in there or two. The repository will be updated quite frequently, so keep an eye on it.
Unless you’ve been living underneath a rock lately then you would have heard the great debate over Australian alcohol and drug fuelled violence. NSW have recently imposed some tough legal changes, with any assault or greater perpetrated by drunken/drugged offenders getting a minimum 8 year sentence: it’s a start. Queensland are in the process of talking about what can be done.
However, most politicians and other interest groups still just don’t get it. Most people think the alcohol and drugs are to blame and the accessibility of said items is also to blame, it’s only part of the problem. It’s like saying car manufacturers are responsible for drink driving…
