If you are getting calls from the number (08) 6228 4010 do not answer or call them back. A telemarketing company called TSA Telco Group Australia who acts on behalf of Telstra for telemarketing services is trying to call you.
They don’t leave a voicemail message and don’t seem to get the hint either. For the last month they’ve been trying to repeatedly call me. The past week they’ve been trying to call me at least twice a day.
Don’t be confused, this is NOT Telstra calling you, but rather a third party paid by Telstra to spam people (obviously their own customers). I am already a Telstra mobile customer, I don’t understand why they keep trying to call me.
For some reason I thought I was already on the Do Not Call Register, but when I called the the register, apparently I wasn’t. So I added my mobile number to the DNC list and hopefully the calls permanently stop soon, otherwise I will report TSA to ACMA and I suggest you do the same if they keep harassing you.
Add your number to the Do Not Call registry here. If the calls are particularly frequent calling this number (which is Telstra’s complaint line) apparently also gets results: 1800 814 242
You can also contact TSA directly if you would like to be removed their constant call list by dialling their customer service line: 1800 634 055
Either way, these calls are frustrating and you should know as an Australian you have a lot of options if adding yourself to the register and calling one or all of those numbers does not work.
Thanks for the post Dwayne – I’m getting these calls everyday for the last 4. I suspect it has to do with my recent upgrade and new contract.
Just an FYI, you can collect these phone numbers on your phone and put them in a call reject list. At least you can on the Samsung S4 so I am guessing the other big producers like iphones etc should do it. Mine has a limit of 100 numbers of which I am up to 30 already. But it’s a lot better than getting bugged all the time.
On the samsung open the number and create a contact. I usualy use telemarketer for a name and then go into the services menu and find ‘Call’ and in there if asks me if i want to activate a call reject list. I open that and add the numbers to the call reject list. Takes about 2 minutes once you know how to do it and you dont get these calls anymore.
Also automatically rejects private numbers which some of the scam telemarketers are using…as well as banks so sorry banks but you need to cal lfrom a legit number.
Iphone 4 is: settings/Phone/Blocked/add number. Easy.
Samsung is: Settings/My Device/Call/Call rejec
I’ve had 6 missed calls from 08 6228 4010 in the last 4 days (excluding weekend). Bloody annoying, but at least I now know who it is! On the last call, I think my blank (completely silent with no words spoken) voicemail must have confused him and he repeatedly said my name and hello until he realised that no one was on the line…haha. Anyway, number is now blocked and hopefully the calls will stop!
I never answer phone numbers I don’t know. I always Google the number to see if it’s spam or a business before I call back. I’m definitely not calling this number back. It’s really annoying because they have been calling me during class.
The problem is that even if you block the number on your iphone, you still get voicemail ‘messages’ left. These are of course silent, but your phone will send you a text message telling you that you have said message. So they still manage to annoy you. I need to think through the pros and cons of adding what is a work mobile number to the DNC registry.
Pretty sure that when the DNC Register was set up you had to re-register every 2 or 3 years. I see they’ve extended that to 8 years now.
From the 27th April 2015 existing and new entries on the DNC are permanent and no longer require re- registering.
hey guys, I actually used to work for TSA group. They get around the DNC register because they say that the call is not unsolicited as you are a Telstra customer and they are calling on their behalf.
These guys are ruthless and will not stop calling. If you answer, shut them down right away and demand that they remove your number though, they have to.
Why is Telstra to stupid to realise that people who work during 9 to 5 cannot possibly answer the phone at 10 in the morning or 4 in the afternoon. Surley after the 12th time in week they would get that.
I have been receiving numerous calls from these inconsiderate pricks on a daily basis for the past three weeks. After concluding that they were not about to stop, and realizing it was indeed interrupting my time between work and university studies, I proceeded to send them a carefully worded message and voice mail.
In said messages, I highlighted how people have lives to continue on with, without having regard to inconsiderate telemarketers calling at ridiculous hours of the day.
Following these comments were some carefully written words advising whoever is responsible for these pointless calls to get a life and have some consideration for other people and their lives. Essentially telling the caller to as politely as I could, “fuck off and call someone else”.
Haven’t heard from them since.
Hopefully this helps you frustrated customers in finding a solution to receiving pointless calls from pointless people.
To conclude, TSA Telco Group Australia, you are without doubt the most inconsiderate, illogical and idiotic group of telemarketers I have ever come across. If someone doesn’t pick up a call every day for the first week, I can only imagine what goes inside these peasant, thick headed telemarketer minds of yours to even deduce that we will pick up the call the next ten times.
Hello there, I am a previous employee of said TSA, and while the calls can be annoying I can clear some things up for you. TSA is a third party that handles telstras outbound calls. They are set up with automatic diallers that will call Telstra customers who fall into a particular campaign they might be dialing. For eg. people on old plans, or eligible for new deals etc. When you don’t answer the call or get an answering machine the number will go back into the dialler and call you again soon. So it is not peasant minded telemarketers calling you personally back, they have no control of the automatic dialler.
The Do Not Call register does allow charities to call you and companies that you are customers for. So being a telstra customer, you will get calls from TSA. These can sometimes be Customer Care calls to deal with complaints or merely you just calling telstra up or going into a store. As when I was working there they were trying that type of work out. I think it has gone back to sales though now.
Now there is one plus to them ringing you, and that is sometimes they can actually offer pretty good deals. Deals that won’t get offered in store. And with telstra falling behind the value wise of other companies sometimes it can be good to listen to these deals, Although you’d usually have to sit through their “discovery” questions so they can get an idea of how you use the services etc.
But the good sales people were the pushy people. So it is very hard to know when you’re getting a good deal, or just getting re-contracted back into other deals.
And finally if you don’t want them to call you, answer and tell them you don’t want to be contacted by them again. And they’ll dispose that call as , Do Not Call Back.
PS. Never work for them, as it is truly a horrible company to be an employee for
Just tell them you’re under 16. It’s illegal for them to market to minors.
I have just dealt with these guys. I love fuking with the telemarketers. Here is how I get rid of them. Answer the call. Ask for the persons name and employee number and what company they represent (write it all down and save it somewhere) Then ask them to not call you for the allocated time of 30days, also asked to be placed on their do not call list. And ask for the receipt number for that call (also write down and store) They stop calling pretty darn quick due to harassment. If they contact you again report to the ombudsman.
Just got a call too. He was hammering the ‘pack for internet and phones’ and would not listen to me.
He could save me money if I payed $25 a month more…….
Save money by paying more???? how does that work????
I eventually got rude and advised as I am unemployed and my wife works less that 10 hours a week, I”M NOT INTERESTED in paying more.
But he kept on…. and on…. and click – I hung up.
They tried this with our mobile phones too. They can save us money for $20 extra a month per phone, and removing the free calls between the phones too. Doesn’t make sense.
I have been getting daily calls from them since the start of september. I have put the number in my spam messages and also my block list. You would think that after almost 2 months of trying that they would get the hint and stop calling me. Bloody wankers.
Telstra agreed to block this number today – but left me with a piercing single tone when I answer the phone. It’s almost a gun to head arrangement with your Telstra – step outside your expected service delivery and pay a price?
They called me 3 months. And saved me $50 a month off my Telstra Bill. Plus got me more internet
glad I answered
Most of the time, I just don’t answer phone calls because it’s inconvenient. If it’s an important call, then they’ll leave a message (I only have a landline), and I phone back. And if I’m near the phone before they finish the message, I can take the call.
Sometimes if I’m next to the phone and this crowd call, if I answer they just hang up. Annoying.
I work for TSA telco group in Brisbane.
I enjoy working for TSA, I love talking to our customers, listening to great stories.
This company have stepped up the game and now has a large policy for customers we all follow 100% of regulations on telemarketing..
We don’t have a choice between who we call it’s all programmed on a voip system called a dialer. Best part about that is we don’t know who we are talking too next.

The Do Not Call register does not stop calls from this number because as you can see from the above comment they say they are acting for Telstra and that by being a Telstra customer you have consented to being contacted by your service provider Telstra, or their agents.

Is anything getting done about this number at all?? I have been threatening them to take the to court for the last 12 mnths. Every few mnths they kept calling here. Do something about it or i friggin will be! Get ur acts 2gether and get this call shut down…… Bloody pathetic u guys knows about this telstra scam calls but do nothing about it.
I didn’t want to answer this number for a few times but when I answered Telstra offered to pay off the money I owe on my iPhone 6s, which was $300+. They said it’s because I’ve been with Telstra for 4 years. They also gave me a cheaper unlimited calls plan which is cheaper than my cheapest limited plan, and offers more data, all at no money to pay, and also gave me $150 off new iPhone 7 when it’s going to be on sale.
It’s not that I’m avertising Telstra, they ripped me off many times before, but this is apparently what they did.
Rightio. This has to got to stop. Friggin really?? Have told them off 3 times not to call me in past 6 mnths. Since having them on call block for last 2 weeks has made it 10 times worse. They are calling every day up to 3 times a day even tho its on call block, ID still shows up even tho they cant get through to me. This really has to stop or i will be going through higher authority and this company will be charged anywhere $50,0000 upwards for harassment. Just stop please. Enough is enough. No need for it really. Dont u ppl have anything to do in ur days & life then harrasing ppl?? Really?? How would u feel if u go calling ur number everyday for 4 times a day or go door knocking everyday hey??? U would feel angry like i am right now. Enough is enough. Go get a life or i will be getting u charged for every ph call harrasment. For petes sake!!@!!
I just wanted to thank you for this incredible post. It’s full of SO much good information and resources. I can tell you spent a lot of time on it, so thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks for the info, i’ve just received my first call. No doubt more to come!! I to am with Telstra and have had the some mobile plane for 7 years.
I’m sure that’s not it. j
Thanks again guys!
Find it funny how people screw with TSA. As an employee in the MELB outbound centre, the deals and offers are awesome and some people who refuse to talk to us are paying $100+ for 1GB of data and piss all calls. Makes me happy when I get hung up on by stupid people.
Everyone always abuses TSA for there practices, however the 20+ people I help a day, saving between $20-$100 off there Telstra bill after they’ve gone in store and been lied to and fucked over makes it worth while. Telstra stores are the dodgiest things you’ll ever go to. They lie to your face and every one laps it up. That free case you got? $10 a month. Device insurance? $15 a month.
Be a lad and answer the phone with exleast 5 minutes. It’s all it takes to save money
