How To See Which Applications Are Using Your Battery In iOS 8 And On Your iPhone 6

General · September 19, 2014

A new and much needed feature in iOS 8 is the ability to see which applications and background processes are using your battery. This is a feature that Android users have had for a very long time and it can help save the life of your battery considerably by allowing you to see which apps are using what percentage of your battery and allowing you to close them down.

To see which apps and background process are consuming battery, simply go to: Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage

From this screen you will be presented with a list of apps, how much battery they are consuming and the ability to close or remove them entirely from your phone.

If the app says “background activity” this means your application is consuming battery in the background without you even actively using it. To clear background applications, simply go to: Settings > General > Background App Refresh and toggle the on/off switch. You can also turn Background Refresh off for all apps or just manage each individual app’s settings.

These two tips will undoubtedly increase the battery life of your iPhone 6 or any other device running the latest version of iOS: iOS 8.
