How Much You’ll Really Pay For Playstation 4 VR

Gaming · March 18, 2016

I am stoked for the Playstation VR headset for the Playstation 4 console. Pricing was announced at $399 USD and the Australian price is $550. Sony did reveal that it would be priced as a new platform, so this falls directly inline with the cost of a PS4 console.

Keep in mind this figure does not account for the cost of the Playstation Camera: $59 USD/$75 AUD and Playstation Move controllers: $49 USD/$46 AUD each.

For Australian purchasers you are looking at a total of: $717 AUD for the Playstation VR headset, a Playstation Camera and 2 Move controllers. All of a sudden that cheap headset does not work out to be so cheap. If you don’t actually own a Playstation 4, then you’re looking at $350 USD/$480 AUD for a 500gb PS4. This really totals the cost at: $1197 AUD.

However, keep in mind that the cost of a HTC Vive or Oculus Rift requires an expensive high-end gaming PC to power it and works out to be more than double the cost. The Playstation 4 and VR headset are definitely way cheaper in comparison. You can also head the head seat at Armchair Empire for a really good price.

I actually pre-ordered from EB Games myself immediately after it was made available for pre-order. The future looks bright for VR and PS4.

Dwayne
